Introduction…

For over three and a half decades, I have been involved in the stock market. First, as a teenager intrigued by stocks, then as a member of an investment club, then one of two managing members of an investment partnership, and ever since 2001, as an investment advisor. Throughout, I have never stopped being thankful for the opportunity to compound my capital through ownership of some of the world’s greatest companies via the stock market.

Alongside my brother and partner, Jason, we have seen it all… stock market corrections, full-blown collapses, bear markets, bull markets, recessions, the advent of life changing technology, etc… Needless to say, events or periods of time that will excite you and/or terrify you.

As stock investors, through it all, we have done one thing right… stay invested. Not once have we been chased out of the stock market. This steadfast belief in the wealth creation power of the stock market could be the result of any number of reasons… from our initial investment education to our intestinal fortitude to our disciplined approach and understanding of how companies work or at this point, our vast experience. My guess is, it’s a combination of all of these reasons and thensome.

Nonetheless, most importantly, we stay invested. In fact, this is probably the number one job of an investment advisor… ensure his/her clients stay the course and do not interrupt the compounding of money. We’ve always known this but as people have become wealthier, it seems this basic, but very important, notion is lost on many.

Hence, the creation of The Last Investor. Prior to this blog, in addition to writing our firm’s client letters, I ran a blog called SmartMunnie where I would do my best to clarify any and all investment topics… kind of a hodgepodge of information. But, as noted above, I think people really need to be reminded over and over again how great the stock market is at creating wealth so they stay invested… or better said, be the last investor.

With that said, I look forward to sharing thoughts, opinions, information, points of clarity, etc. on all things investing (mostly the stock market) with the intention of helping all people stay positive and know that over the long-term investing is a land of successes.

Happy reading….
